PURPOSE IN THE PROCESS
Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested [insert your name here]’s character. - Psalm 105:19
I can’t seem to shake this thought. Spend more time building your character than trying to build your platform. I’m inclined to believe God does things in you before He does things through you. Our generation loves the spotlight, but what about what happens in the shadows?
Pastor Steven Furtick said, “Don’t judge other people’s highlight reel with your behind the scenes.” We love to talk about the dream, the promise, the goal, etc. But what about the process? Mother Theresa said, “I don’t pray for success, I pray to be faithful.” Success is in the daily grind. I don’t think success is marked by sporadically achieving big things but consistently being faithful in the small things. One of my absolute favorite preacher chicks Charlotte Gambill posted this a few days ago and it pierced me to my core: "When you become too big to care about the small you have probably become to small to be entrusted with the big. Reach for the stars but don't think your the superstar. Just remember that in all we do it's only possible because of all He has done. Let grace guide you and humility handle the things we are entrusted to hold. Let's do this journey Jesus style. For in His greatness he noticed the smallest. When we don't see or care what or who are around us because we are so concerned with what we want ahead of us, we have a problem. Let's not think we are all that and instead let's just do the best we can." That'll preach for days! SO good!
I've heard it said if God has assigned you, He will find you. It's important to remember though that your alignment will determine your assignment. Being where God wants you to be, is more important than being where you want to be. Commit to the process; to being molded and shaped into who God has called you to be.
Here’s a few things I’ve committed to practice in the process:
- Be impeccable with your word
- Don’t take anything personally
- Don’t make assumptions
- Honor your leadership
- Expose yourself to greatness
- Do wholeheartedly whatever is before you
There's purpose in the process!
